Kerry Proctor - Owner and Professional Organizer at BrightSpace Organizing

The Road That Got Me Here

I’ve built a long, rewarding career working alongside high-powered executives, organizing everything from complex projects to international conferences - all while keeping large teams on track. It was work I was very good at, but behind the scenes, I was managing quite a bit. As a single parent, I was determined to be both a dedicated mom and an accomplished professional.

As my son grew into an incredible adult, I stepped into more significant executive-level roles managing companies and leading teams. While I continued to succeed professionally, I realized these positions didn’t quite fit where my heart truly was. Something felt off. My own home, once my sanctuary, started feeling like a cluttered reflection of the stress I was feeling. I craved a space that brought peace and clarity - something more aligned with the life I envisioned.

I began exploring Marie Kondo’s KonMari Method,™ and the transformation I experienced in my mindset, my life, and in my space at home was nothing short of life-changing. So life-changing in fact, that I decided to redirect my professional skills toward helping others navigate the same challenges I had been facing.

The Start of BrightSpace Organizing

I started this business because I am deeply passionate about helping others conquer the overwhelming clutter in their homes and lives. I’ve seen firsthand how disorganization can drain energy, and I felt a strong desire to use my skills to help people get unstuck. It’s incredibly fulfilling for me to support clients in creating spaces that reflect their lives and aspirations - spaces where they can truly relax and thrive.

My own experience with this kind of overwhelm is what drove me to pursue this path. My home, once a place of comfort, became a source of constant stress. Despite a successful career, I found myself struggling to relax, unable to shake the feeling of disarray both at home and in my life. What I didn’t realize at the time was how directly connected my home was to the rest of my life. When your space isn’t aligned with your needs or your values, it can cloud your vision and add unnecessary weight to everything else you’re trying to carry.

This is why so many people, despite achieving their goals - a great job, a beautiful home, a happy family - can still feel stressed and overwhelmed, and not always know why. The missing piece for many of us is the realization that we can actively design our lives and our homes to reflect what we value most, helping us move forward with clarity, peace, and purpose. That’s the work I’m passionate about doing every day with my clients.

This method goes beyond just organizing physical items; it supports you in creating a home aligned with your personal values and ideal lifestyle. Not a “perfect” home, but a home perfect for you. Big difference.

Why Work with Me?

  1. Because I’m not perfect, and I’m not going for perfect. I see many organizers out there who going for the Instagram-perfect pantry, and sure, I’m completely capable of doing that. But what’s more important to me is creating a space that works for you and your life. One that’s maintainable, that brings you a rush of joy when you walk in the door every day, and supports a lifestyle that you know is the right path for you. That looks completely different from person to person, and I am flexible in supporting each one of my clients to their version of wonderful.

  2. Because seriously, I’m pretty darn fun. I try not to take life too seriously, and I always feel that laughter is almost always the best medicine. This work can be tiring, but it can also create some of the best memories of your entire year.

  3. If I can do this, absolutely anyone can. I’ve seen my own chaos and complete mess, so I don’t ever judge - I’m just so happy to have the opportunity to hear your story, get to know you, and walk along with you as you find your way on this journey. It’s gonna be great.

I know this may feel like a big step, but I’d encourage you not to wait until it feels like the “right time” to do this - the right time is right now! Your future self will thank you.

Random Fun Facts

I ask my clients to welcome me into their homes, so I feel it’s important that you get to know me.

  • I’m a native Oregonian with family here (in Oregon) and up in Alaska, so I spend time in both states. Having spent my entire life near the ocean and large bodies of water, I find that anywhere by the water is my happy place.

  • I'm a proud mom, and I absolutely love it. My son is a college football coach and a completely awesome human. But I may be a little biased.

  • Considering the above bullet point, it’s a good thing that I love football. My family puts in our Superbowl picks each season. I won last year, and plan to again this year! [There is no greater joy in life than a mom beating her son in a football betting pool.]

  • I’m a Libra. I was born on my older brother’s birthday when he was 4 years old. I will forevermore be the best birthday present he’s ever received.

  • My dad is a Navy veteran and introduced me to shooting. Now it’s one of my favorite things to do, aside from organizing closets. Oh, the unexpected combination of interests.

  • I rowed for years, usually in an 8+ crew. It was the BEST EVER.

  • I have tattoos, and I completely broke the mold in my family when I got them. But I love ‘em!

  • I dig country music, both new and the classic stuff. But I also enjoy all 80’s/90’s music, the Eagles, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald… so a flexible music fanatic.

  • I’m a dog person, but I currently have two cats. You read that right.

  • I’m a yoga convert. I came over kicking and screaming and holding a basketball. But now I love it. Mostly. I think.
